As President of Pride Institute, Lou Shuman, DMD, CAGS, is lauded for his work in the dental and medical industry. He has met with great success in the areas of emerging technologies, Internet strategies and marketing methods, strategic relations and operational practice management.

Dr. Lou Shuman is a personal consultant to SomnoMed Inc., which is the country's premiere sleep apnea company. He is also a consultant to DENTSPLY GAC as well as a member of their Key Opinion Leader Board. Additionally, Lou Shuman is a Chairman of the Sesame Communications Technology Advisory Board and belongs to advisory boards of The Progressive Orthodontist, The Progressive Dentist and Dentistry Today.

Lou Shuman was responsible for creating the Pride "Best of Class" Awards, which honors the most innovative and important technologies in the medical and dental industry. This non-profit and unbiased initiative has brought attention to new developments in the industry and educated the dental profession about them. Winners of this prestigious award are reported at the ADA Annual Session, ADA News, in the Dental Products Report, Dental Economics and the Greater New York Dental Meeting.

Before taking the position of President of Pride Institute, Dr. Lou Shuman held the position of Vice President of Clinical Education and Strategic Relations at Align Technology for nearly a decade. Over the course of his time at Align Technology, he was in charge of the creation of Orthodontic and GP clinical programs and headed a number of concept development projects, including Vivera retainers. He was also a major force in bringing Invisalign techniques into dental school curricula throughout North America and the United States, including Harvard University, NYU, University of Illinois at Chicago and the University of Texas at San Antonio. He also brought these techniques to the attention of a number of leading organizations and institutes such as the ADA, AGD, The Dawson Center for Advanced Studies and The Pankey Institute.

Due to his expertise and extensive experience in the dental and medical field, he has been called on to lecture on related topics throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and Japan. Dr. Lou Shuman also shares his knowledge through written articles and whitepapers, and he has penned articles for such notable publications as Dental Economics, Dental Products Report, Inside Dentistry, The Progressive Orthodontist and Orthodontic Practice US.

Lou Shuman has also branched out to the Internet and launched rdental.com, which features the Enhanced Educational Interface (EEI) engine. The EEI engine provides exclusive online education for the ADA and the AGD, along with leading and well-known educators, including Dr. Gordon Christensen, Dr. Pete Dawson, Dr. Vince Kokich, Dr. Stan Malamed and Dr. Frank Spear.

Other accolades for Dr. Lou Shuman include being the only dentist named both a Top CE Leader and a Leader in Dental Consulting by Dentistry Today, and he has been named “One of the Top CE Leaders in Dentistry” for nine years running. Lou Shuman has been called “one of the most influential dentists in the country today” while a lecturer at Gordon Christensen's LDS Annual Meeting.

He is currently a member of the Clinical Advisory Board at Dentistry Today.
